One important item of business was a proposal to amend and update the bylaws and standing rules for the organization. The proposed changes are provided below.

The major changes to the bylaws include:

  • Deletes the mail notification option for meeting notifications; only email notifications will instead be used.
  • Reduces the quorum requirement from one-third to 25% of member guilds.
  • Reduced meeting notice period for special meetings from 30 days to 14 days, again using email notification.
  • Increases the number of officers on the board from 5 to 9. This is done by making standing committee chairs directors of their areas:
    • Membership Chair will become the Membership Director.
    • Education Chair will become the Education Director.
    • Communications Chair will become the Communications Director.
    • Webmaster will become the Technology Director.
  • Replaces the two-thirds requirements for amendments with a 25% of member guilds requirement.

The major changes to the standing rules include:

  • Reduces the notification periods for some activities.
  • Adds language defining the roles of the new board members – Technology Director, Communications Director, Membership Director, and Education Director.
  • Deletes policies regarding travel for board members for meetings as all meetings are now done online.

The prior bylaws and standing rules are available on the website under the “About ANWG” menu.

After some discussion the proposal to amend the bylaws and standing rules passed.
