Nanoose Bay, BC

The Nanoose Bay Weavers and Spinners Guild presently has 9 members. We meet monthly at the Bradley Centre in Coombs, Vancouver Island, BC, Canada.
The guild began with a small group of weavers in 1975. Elaine Duncan began teaching weaving in Nanoose in 1976 and the guild was formed then. Most of the members lived in Nanoose Bay to begin with but we have moved but still live close to Nanoose Bay. Only one member still lives in Nanoose Bay. Our group grew to 20 members in our more active years and has shrunk now to 9 members. We are all old friends who talk about everything in life and weaving and spinning. We show and tell anything to do with fibre. Knitting, spinning, weaving, tapestry. We are always happy that we made the time to get together.
In the past, we participated in ANWG conferences and often had a booth in the conference guild displays. We have never had an executive, money, books and equipment. We don’t have a website or newsletter. We get together to share our love of weaving and fibres and after this long time of friendship, we celebrate our friendships.
