In 1953, a new weaving guild came into being in the beautiful Palouse region of northern Idaho and southeastern Washington. More than 60 years later, we are still going strong. Composed of people from Latah County Idaho and Whitman County Washington, our members are interested in the fiber related crafts of weaving, spinning, dyeing, felting, braiding, and design.
Activities of the guild include monthly meetings with programs about various aspects of these crafts, study groups, displays, demonstrations of handweaving and spinning at various regional venues, participation in the Latah County fair, workshops, weekend retreats and “day camp”.
The guild maintains an extensive library and equipment for members use.
Affiliated with HGA and ANWG, members have opportunities to attend regional and national conferences.
Starting in 2016, the guild chose to move from a “president” led meeting format and now has different members acting as meeting coordinators.
Meetings are held monthly September to May generally on the 4th Saturday of the month from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. (brown bag lunch) in the 1912 Center (Heart of the Arts) in Moscow ID. Visitors are welcome. Membership is by payment of annual dues ($25).
