Humbug Mountain Weavers and Spinners Guild

Back in the Fall of 1969 several people who had recently moved to Port Orford, discovered they shared in  a common interest in learning to work with the abundant Curry County wool. First, they spun it into yarn, then learned to use natural dyes, then wove this homespun into fabric. We had so much fun learning from each other that we found there was enough interest in the area to organize a weaving group starting with six to eight members. By the fall of 1970 Port Orford Weavers Guild was formed.

Over time the group enlarged and  changed our name to reflect the growth and diversity of our members’ talents and interests.  Humbug Mountain Weavers and Spinners Guild now includes the Southern Oregon Coast and has increased in membership to about thirty members today.

We meet monthly in Langlois to share programs and ideas, to enjoy educational programs and the company of other fiber artists.  Occasionally we have workshops with nationally recognized artists. We participate in community events.  We encourage all weavers, spinners, knitters, felters and dyers to join us. All skill levels are welcome to attend meetings at the Langlois Fire Hall on the third Saturday of the month at 1:00.
